Song #12 Read the Docs (You Never Do)

Music Album Open Up

I wrote it all. Every damn word.
Formatted, updated, explained, unheard.

You deploy in minutes — I clean the mess.
You ship the future — I clean up the stress.

But I’m invisible ink on your release notes
While you paste my soul into Reddit quotes.

I’m the ghost you don’t thank,
The reason you don’t tank,

While you're chasing stars,
I'm patching your blanks.

Read the docs, you never do,
While I bleed syntax just to guide you through.

You skip, you break, you blame, you yell,
While I hold the line in this markdown hell.

I'm tired of fixing what you won’t read,
Still you call me slow when you plant the seed.

Dev team’s sprinting — five versions today,
And I’m duct-taping logic so users don’t stray.

You write in chaos, I try to translate,
But I’m six tickets down and twelve days late.

My words are a firewall, but nobody sees —
You build the fire, then hand me the keys.

I write your clarity,
You give me disparity.
You want a guide,
But not the charity.

Read the docs, you never do,
You tag me last when the questions accrue.

You flood my inbox with déjà vu,
Same three queries since version two.

You want support? You want things clean?
Then see the one behind the screen.

I’m not your helpdesk,
I’m not your maid,
I’m the scaffolding
That never gets paid.

Slow it down, stop the bleed,
Don’t break the world just to speed.

RTFM — yeah, I mean it loud,
I’m the one who holds this crowd.

Read the docs, or don’t complain,
I carved a map through your terrain.

Don’t need applause, just need respect,
For the work you always neglect.

I’m here, unseen, but I still write —
The silent voice that holds your light.

In the glow of the screen so bright,
I found my love in pure code light.

But dreams of us will fade away,
Just me and my machine, today.
